What is DSIP?

DSIP (delta sleep-inducing peptide) is a nine-amino-acid peptide first isolated in 1977 from the blood of rabbits in induced sleep, and it is studied for sleep and stress responses. Its human research is small and decades old, and how it works is still unclear.

These articles cover its history, the studies, and side effects. Through Promise, DSIP is prescription-only after a licensed provider review, and no DSIP product is FDA-approved.

DSIP Nasal Spray: What the Human Research Says

A DSIP nasal spray appears in one small human experiment, but no published human nasal PK or sleep trial validates the format. Promise currently lists DSIP as an injection, not a spray.

DSIP Benefits: What the Human Evidence Shows

DSIP has been studied most directly for sleep, but the human findings are small, old and mixed. Signals involving ACTH, chronic pain and withdrawal are preliminary rather than established benefits.

  3. A man in blue pajamas stands beside a bare bedroom window at dusk

DSIP Side Effects: What Human Studies Found

Reported DSIP side effects include sleep pressure, headache, nausea, vertigo, sweating and occasional blood-pressure changes, but small, short studies leave long-term risk largely unknown.

  4. An adult in a fitted long-sleeve top sits quietly on the edge of a neatly made bed at dusk

DSIP Dosage: What the Human Studies Used

There is no standard clinical dose for delta sleep-inducing peptide. The small human studies used intravenous infusions under observation, not a validated at-home schedule.

  5. A woman sitting on a bed in warm evening lamplight, winding down before sleep

The DSIP Peptide: A 1970s Sleep Mystery

The DSIP peptide was isolated from the blood of sleeping rabbits in 1970s Switzerland, yet no one has ever found its receptor — or the gene that would prove mammals make it.
